2018 fall fashion trends for men and women
Summer is officially over, and fall is here. Where did the time go? 2018 has already given us some interesting and unique fashion trends, and now we are getting ready to change up our closets and put the shorts and tank tops away. One of the best things about this year’s fall fashion trends is how it’s gender neutral.
While wearing plaid in fall is a tale as old as time, this season you can expect a more structured approach. Menswear-inspired silhouettes are very in. Whether it’s a woman wearing a men’s plaid blazer, or a man wearing a classic flannel plaid shirt, plaid is definitely a fall favorite. It is also being printed on bags, belts, and boots. Designers like Versace and Alexander Wang are going above and beyond with plaid. These two designers are mixing and matching red plaid with bright yellow plaid.
If bold printed clothing just isn't your thing, adding a classic plaid scarf to your fall outfits is just enough to still stay on this trend.
If there’s one trend to know about right now it’s Western styles. Loads of designers like Coach and Louis Vuitton are incorporating Western details into their fall collections this year. Jazz up your floral prints with a suede jacket, cowboy boots and flowy skirts or dresses. For men this year, full cowboy bolo ties, denim shirts with Western trims and accessories. The metal buckle on a Western-style belt is a must for both sexes. It gives just the right amount of country to offset slim-fit jeans and a Chelsea boot will look Western and rock and roll.
Red has ruled the runway season after season. Now this year, red is back with a twist. Pairing red with bold colors like bright green, yellow, pink, or blue hit runways like Versace and Balenciaga. The 80s-inspired look will brighten up any dreary fall day.
If orange was indeed the new black last fall, a 70s inspired yellow color is the new orange this fall. Countless designers are adding the golden touch to their fall runway looks this year. While it’s a tough color to pull off for some skin tones, don’t avoid this sunny accent into your fall wardrobe.
Varsity lettering and collegiate style dressing made its mark on the runway last fall. This year, it’s bigger and better than ever. Crests, preppy stripes and dapper separates that remind you of high school will have you getting straight A’s in style this year.
Ralph Lauren is also back this year with his new preppy aesthetic. The brand is making the perfect collegiate-looking cardigan for your closet this year. The signature Ralph Lauren shield patch, varsity stripe-detailing, and shawl collar make this red cardigan completely perfect for sporting the perfect schoolboy look.
